In Memory of Gareth

Why I’m Running

Many of you knew my brother Gareth as we grew up in Ashdon together. Sadly, we lost Gareth to leukaemia in February 2023. Since then, we’ve been on a mission to raise funds for Leukaemia UK, a charity very dear to our hearts, which provides support to families affected by this terrible disease.

On April 21st, I’ll be taking on the challenge of running the London Marathon in honour of Gareth. This marathon holds a special significance for me, as it symbolises not just a personal journey of physical endurance, but also a tribute to Gareth’s memory and a commitment to continue the fight against leukaemia.

The road to the London Marathon has been filled with countless hours of training, early morning runs, and moments of both physical and emotional struggle. But with every step I take, I carry Gareth’s spirit with me, fuelling my determination to push forward and make a difference.

I invite you to join me in this journey by supporting my fundraising efforts. Your donations will go directly towards funding vital research, providing care and support to patients and their families, and ultimately, bringing us closer to a world free of leukaemia.

You can show your support by making a donation through my JustGiving page: Gemma’s London Marathon Fundraiser

Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference. Together, let’s honour Gareth’s memory and make a positive impact in the fight against leukaemia.

If you happen to see me running through the streets of Ashdon or training on the countryside paths, please give me a friendly toot and an extra one for Gaz ❤️

Thank you for your support and generosity.

Warm regards,
Gemma Smith
